What's new in Autodesk Maya 2022.2 New scaling controls for the Solidify deformer The main change in Maya itself is to the Solidify deformer, which gets new scaling controls to make it possible to resize geometry tagged as non-deformable. Users can scale 'islands' of non-deformable geometry along surface normals or using tangent planes, and scaling can be controlled on a per-island or global basis, as shown in the video above. Workflow improvements to the Script Editor and Application Home Workflow improvements in the core software include new option in the Attribute Editor to save all of the script tabs open to a file, and to show tab and space characters in the Script Editor. The new Application Home screen added in Maya 2022.1 gets a small update, now displaying file locations from the side menu of the Recent Files list. Updates to the Bifrost and USD Maya 2022.2 provides Bifrost Extension for Maya version 2.3.0.0, which includes new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Bifrost Extension for Maya version 2.3.0.0 provides you with a faster and more interactive experience with features such as: new interactive sliders, faster plug-in loading, dynamic constants that remove the need for compilation after an initial value change, and feedback ports that are preserved so you can resume a simulation even if you pause playback to change your graph. Updating your old graphs is now easier - when you open a graph with nodes and ports that no longer exist, these nodes now appear differently - as unknown nodes - with their external connections and input values preserved so you can easily fix your graph. Maya 2022.2 provides USD Extension for Maya version 0.11.0, which includes stability fixes, new features and performance improvements.
