What's Your Rig?

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be fun to see what rig everyone uses for Planet side! I'll start.

Case: Coolermaster HAF X Full Tower

MoBo: Asus Sabertooth P67

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k

RAM: 8GB DDR3 (4gb x 2)

GPU: nVidia Geforce 650 ti

Storage: 180GB Intel 520 series SSD for my OS, plus a raid 0 using two 500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATA 2 drives for backups, and finally a 1.5TB Western Digital Caviar Black SATA 3 drive for downloads and other data.

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Display: 32" Insignia 1080p TV

Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech MX3200 / Razer Naga 2012

Audio/Voice: Plantronics GameCom 780

I also use my Razer Nostromo for my wasd controls and other primary gameplay. The keyboard is mostly just for typing.

What do you guys use?

Pixxo CG-8402 Mid Tower case
AMD Athlon II X3 3.2GHz (4th core unlocked, OC'd to 3.5GHz)
Kuhler H20 620 liquid cooler
ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3 mobo
8GB DDR3 2133 PC3 17000 GSkill Ripjaw RAM (mildly OC'd)
Sapphire Radeon 5770 GPU
Two 500GB 7200 rpm HDDs (Seagate and HGST)

A 320GB laptop HDD that I tossed in for movie/recording data storage
Acer X203 20" LCD and CTL 196 19" LCD monitors
Razer Nostromo Gamepad and Logitech G600 mouse
Logitech H540 headset
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Microsoft brand wireless keyboard and my speakers are little Harmon/Kardon cheapos.

It was a budget build that I occasionally add on to and upgrade when I find things on really good sales. The Nostromo, the mouse, and the headset were all gifts from the wife. It's not a super duper machine, but I built it from parts, it performs better than I ask of it, and I've never had a problem with it. :)

The solid state and GPU were added after the fact on my build. I dumped a bunch of cash to go all out on the CPU and mobo. It was my gift to myself. I think I built it almost 2 years ago now.

i7 870 2.93 GHz (overclocked to 3.5)

Kuhler H20 920 cpu cooler

8 mb RAM

Asus P7H55/USB3 Mobo

Radeon 7950 3 GB

Alienware 120hz monitor

Razer Nostromo (keypad)

Razer Naga (still gotta fix the mouse clicks)

Bose stereo noise cancelling headphones

Yeti Microphone (from Apple Store :D)

Bought it 3 years go to play Starcraft, recently upgraded my video card and got the cpu water cooler.

Good FPS on high/ultra settings; average is around 50 fps, small bases will jump to 80+. Extremely big AMP station battles will drop it down to 30 FPS, overall can't complain. I used to play on low settings but now i'm in my ultra setting phase :P

HUGE improvement.

That much improvement just swapping from a 650 to a 660?

Yup. My coworkers have been attesting to that fact for a while. I went from 75% render, motion blur off, render distance 4000, GPU physics turned off...still had some fps lag at times. Now all those settings are on and at 100%, no fps lag so far.

K ill jump on the bandwagon...but don't laugh too hard :

Toshiba Qosmio x505 Q887 laptop

Quad core

8 g ram

Nvidia 360m

I average 50-60 fps on high settings

It's mobile and lethal...and I can sip my single malt while surfing cable on the couch and kill streaking with my NC 6 saw

Usually get about 80 fps, even seen it as high as 100. In huge fights it sometimes drops to around 30 fps. The highest I've seen the GPU temp is 76ºC. Built it myself back in December and spent $715

I'm rocking an AMD Phenom II X4 something or other at 3 ghz

Cooled by a Kuhler H20 620

Riding on an MSI Mil-Spec motherboard

Running a 2 gig EVGA NVidia 560 TI

Sporting 16 gigs of corsair vengeance ram at 1666 mHz

Being controlled by a Monoprice mechanical keyboard

And a Bloody Headshot gaming mouse (Alternately a Mionix NAOS 8200 or a Razer Mamba)

And feeding all of the goodness to a 32" flat panel and a 21" flat panel.

It all looks something like this (though it has changed a little because the laptop on the right has moved and there is a monitor there now.)

I just did a clean OS install after running DBAN on all my disks and it is running beautfully so far.

I intend on upgrading the GPUs when the 800 series comes up (in anticipation of star citizen) and may upgrade the hard disks to SATA Rev3 since my current ones are only SATA Rev2
