CSquared1972
The Forbidden Zone Fucking Win! Hervé Villechaize and Oingo Boingo! I believe that movie just had a big anniversary and was re-released not too long ago. I'll counter with Dead Alive
Kelly
What are the rules? Weird only? Does shitty movies count, like why did I just watch this?
CSquared1972
Any movie you deem worthy to inflict on another human being for any reason (even if it's just to fuck with them). My kid and I were hanging out last week and the trailer for The Thing came on. She said she wanted to see it and I asked her if she'd seen John Carpenter's The Thing. She said no, so I tracked it down and made her watch it right then. Another example: "You haven't seen Jacob's Ladder? Go use the bathroom while I find the DVD, you're in for a treat." Perfume: The Story of a Murderer was one I was made to watch while not in my right mind, but it was a fun ride. Even if it's Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter or The Crippled Masters...throw it in. It's not a contest, just a reminder that some of this stuff is/was out there. I had forgotten that The Forbidden Zone existed until Videodrome put it out there, now I'm going to go out of my way to find it and watch it again. I think my sister has a copy of it. Videodrome
Well there is also the movie Videodrome of course. One of my favorites. Very Cyberpunk for it's time. Really good camera and lighting work and backed by a great film score by Howard Shore. It also precedes The Ring and is said to be a major inspiration for the makers of Ringu. But be sure to watch the Criterion copy it looks so much better. http://criterion-production.s3.amazonaws.com/release_images/1415/248_box_348x490.jpg' alt='248_box_348x490.jpg'>
N
I loved Videodrome when I saw it a few years ago on YouTube, which is a weird way to see it, but I was definitely impressed.
CSquared1972
I recall it, but I don't think I ever sat through the whole thing. So that's going on my list. Movies you don't want to watch while on hallucinogens (but are great to put on while others are): The Adventures of Tom Thumb, City of Lost Children, and Delicatessen. Videodrome
I'd also recommend Being John Malkovich for a good weird movie.

N
I'd also recommend Being John Malkovich for a good weird movie. Most any Charlie Kaufman film, really. It's amazing how well he can build such complex, surreal voyages. Adaptation, Synechdoche, New York...
CSquared1972
Adaptation was amazing, so I will certainly go out of my way to find more of Kaufman's work...but Spike Jonez's direction also added to that brilliance. I'm going to direct this back to the slapstick horror genre and throw out Cemetery Man just for shits and giggles.

CSquared1972
Time Bandits is pretty crazy. As is 'Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas' on first approach. I took a carload of people to see "Fear and Loathing"...as I was the only person able to drive. Talk about a bunch of people losing their shit during that bar scene...hilarious! The only thing better than that was my brother and a friend when they saw Dusk 'Til Dawn. They had loaded up on halucinogens and didn't know that it was going to be a vampire movie. They almost got kicked out of the theater.

Videodrome
Zero Effect is one of my favorite movies. A very good take off of Sherlock Holmes. I heard they wanted to do more Daryl Zero projects but they got canceled. I think the director wanted to do a TV show but couldn't get it off the ground. N
How well does Dr. Parnassus work with the three Heath Ledgers?
Videodrome
IMO it works fine with 1 Christopher Plummer and 1 Tom Waits. But yes they do find a decent way to integrate the Ledger standins. If you like Time Bandits or The Adventures of Baron Munchausen this is work a look.
